EXPERIMENTATION

CRAFT MEETS CURIOSITY

Before we bottle anything, we break it down. Each gin begins as a series of individual distillates, over 60 in the case of our flagship Singapore Dry Gin. Through blind tasting, layering, and refinement, we develop flavour profiles that are bright, balanced, and tropical in spirit. This experimental, sensory process is a key part of how gin is made at Brass Lion, equal parts art and precision.

ROOTED IN FLAVOUR

From the citrusy brightness of pomelo peel to the floral lift of torch ginger, our botanicals are chosen not just for flavour, but for the emotions they evoke. We source ingredients from wet markets, traditional Chinese medicine shops, and our own herb garden – places that have shaped the way we eat, cook, and live. Grounded in tradition and crafted into something new.

HARNESSING FLAVOUR

Our approach to botanical infusion is both thoughtful and deliberate. Hardy botanicals like juniper berries and coriander seeds are macerated directly in the pot, allowing their full-bodied flavours to infuse the spirit. In contrast, delicate ingredients such as citrus peels and floral petals are placed in Nala's botanical basket. Here, the rising alcohol vapours gently extract their nuanced aromas through vapour infusion, preserving their subtlety without the harshness of direct heat

SMALL BATCH SPIRITS

Operating on a small-batch scale, Nala offers us the flexibility to monitor and adjust each distillation with meticulous attention. This hands-on approach ensures that every bottle of Brass Lion gin reflects our commitment to quality and our passion for the craft.

HEADS, HEARTS AND TAILS

As vapour condenses back into liquid, it emerges in three phases: the heads, hearts, and tails. The hearts are what we’re after – the purest, most flavourful part of the distillation, carefully captured for every bottle of Brass Lion gin. This is the moment where instinct meets intention, when our team decides exactly when to make the cut. The remaining byproducts are thoughtfully repurposed into items like hand sanitiser, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Because to us, distillation is more than a process, it’s a practice in precision and respect for every drop.
