Every great gin begins with a journey, and ours started with one big question: why didn’t Singapore have a spirit to call its own? Our founder, Jamie Koh, realised that many countries had spirits that reflected their culture and identity, so why didn’t Singapore? Determined to change that, she embarked on a six-year adventure to build a truly Singaporean gin distillery.

What followed was years of studying the craft – gaining both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, from the United States to Germany’s Black Forest. From hiking the Schnapps Trail to planting Christmas trees in exchange for lessons, Jamie and her early team immersed themselves in the traditions of distillation, driven by passion and curiosity. This laid the foundation for a brand that would become the pioneer of craft spirits in Singapore.

Our first creation wasn’t just about flavour, it was about telling a story. Jamie was determined to find a gin recipe that captured the essence of home. Working alongside Master Distiller, Frank, the team developed over 60 distillates before landing on a lighter, citrus-forward recipe suited to Singapore’s tropical climate.

The result was our flagship Singapore Dry Gin, a spirit born from global expertise and local inspiration. What makes Singapore Dry Gin unique? It’s our commitment to balancing bold Southeast Asian flavours with the classic elegance of gin, setting a new benchmark for craft gin in Singapore.

SINGAPORE'S FIRST DISTILLERY
Developing our flagship gin was one challenge but building a distillery in Singapore was another entirely. At the time, building a distillery in Singapore wasn’t just rare, it was legally impossible. The licensing framework didn’t exist.

For three years, we worked to change that – helping to adapt brewery paperwork, proposing new frameworks, and lobbying for approvals. We lost five spaces along the way, but never gave up. Eventually, Brass Lion became the country’s first full-fledged distillery, proving that even when there’s no path, you can build one.
