A local take on sloe gin, infused with childhood memories.

Brass Lion Hawthorn Gin is a nostalgic twist on a classic, inspired by the beloved haw flakes snack of our youth. This Asian-style sloe gin from Singapore places the tart, tangy character of hawthorn berries – or ‘shan zha’ – at the forefront, unfolding into a smooth, lingering sweetness with every sip. It’s a fruity gin that celebrates heritage, taste, and the joy of simple pleasures.

FRUITY, TART AND TANGY

The Sweetness of Sunny Afternoons

Crafted with the hawthorn berry at its heart, this innovative gin bridges the past and present, offering a distinctively modern flavour that pays homage to the beloved flavours of our childhood.

How is sloe gin different from regular gin?

Traditional gin is a clear spirit distilled with juniper and other botanicals, while sloe gin is made by infusing gin with fruit, typically sloe berries, and often has a lower ABV. Our Hawthorn Gin is a distinctly Singaporean interpretation, infused with hawthorn berries or ‘shan zha’ for a tart, tangy profile.

How is sloe gin made?

Classic sloe gin is made by steeping sloe berries in gin with sugar over time. At Brass Lion, we follow a similar process, but with hawthorn berries to extract their flavour. The result is a sloe gin Singapore can truly call its own – fruity, fragrant, and easy to enjoy.

What are the benefits of hawthorn berries or ‘shan zha’?

Hawthorn berries, or ‘shan zha’, are widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and are said to aid digestion and circulation. In our gin, they do more than add wellness – they deliver bright acidity, floral aroma, and a nostalgic sweetness inspired by the flavours of childhood.
